5 Things to Remember When Buying Sunglasses

CCTravelHub - Things to Remember When Buying Sunglasses

Beach wear is incomplete without sunglasses. But beyond sporting them for fashion, they protect our eyes from the harmful rays of the sun.

When we go to the beach, these UV rays are intensified as the sunlight bounces off the water. Therefore, we are at higher risk of exposure. And during summertime, this is again further intensified.

Here are some tips to remember to make sure you’re buying the correct pair of sunglasses–something that will make you look your best while protecting your eyes from the sun.

1. Color Matters

Before anything, color matters when we already know what we want to wear. And although dark-colored lenses are a popular choice for a reason, they might only be able to block a small percentage of UV light.

2. Get a Pair That Has 100% UV Protection

When we buy sunglasses, we are at the mall–that is, we are inside a building where the sun doesn’t shine. So we tend to forget about the function and instead focus on how we look.

Of course, we all want to look great, but let us not forget about why we’re buying a pair of sunglasses in the first place. When buying one, remember to look for those that indicate the percentage of UV rays blocked.

3. Look for Polarized Lenses

Although this has nothing to do with protection from UV rays, polarized lenses help reduce the glare from the sea or any reflective surface or area. This means increased comfort and safety, making these types of lenses suitable for both children and adults.

4. Bigger is Better

Let’s go with the trend: bigger, oversized lenses make for a very fashionable choice. But besides that, large sunglasses cover a greater area, so it protects the eyes plus the area around it.

And if you choose to use wraparound lenses, you can also prevent light from entering the area around your eyes through the sides.

5. Cost Should Not Be a Factor

With a lot of brands releasing their own versions and lines of sunglasses, keep in mind that it is best to evaluate your choices based on all the other factors above. The price should ideally come last.

It is not recommended to buy extra cheap sunglasses if they don’t serve their purpose. Remember, they are cheap for a reason, but they might come with a bigger price eventually.

At the same time, make sure that you’re not just paying for the name. Keep in mind that more expensive does not always equal high quality.
