Planning far-away vacations to tick off your travel bucket list may seem rather presumptive during these challenging times. However, sooner or later, everything will be back to normal and passport holders will once again be able to experience a world without overbearing health restrictions and the only distancing anyone will be thinking of is the distance between where we are and where we want to be.
Armed with complete optimism and, of course, our love for worldly experiences, we have compiled a list of 2021’s most exciting destinations.
I hope you have already downloaded our free Dream. Schedule. Explore Daily Planner, as I will be giving you some great travel ideas throughout the rest of this article. Also, we’ve taken into account that returning travelers may prefer more isolated destinations. Let’s get right into it.
Travel Goals 2021
#1 Road Trip!! (USA)
What better way to start a year of returning freedoms than a cross-country road trip?
Americans, and international travelers alike, are in luck as the continental U.S. offers thousands upon thousands of miles of pristine scenery and awe-inspiring views.

The best part is, most are completely accessible by car. So choose your starting coast and head inland to see all the hills, mountains, valleys, cities, small towns, roadside attractions, and national parks that you can.

#2 Winter Wonderland (Alberta, Canada)
Another great option to include on your road trip, especially early in 2021, is our serene neighbor Canada. More specifically, the Alberta province. This northern treasure boasts some of the world’s most beautiful scenery as well as adrenaline-pumping activities like skiing or snowboarding.

If you are more of the “relax and spend time with your loved one” kind of traveler, then Alberta also offers luxurious mountain lodges and more intimate activities like ice skating on naturally frozen lakes and ponds.
#3 Euro-Trip!! (Austria, France, Montenegro, Santorini, Slovenia)
If you are looking for something a little more international, you may want to plan for a trip to Europe. With an EU passport, these incredible destinations will open up just for you.
A couple of weeks or so of traveling around Europe will get you to most of these places.
You can experience the pre-pandemic crowded cities and towns of Hallstatt and Salzburg in Austria, or the incredibly beautiful countryside of France by visiting the country’s Provence region.
If you are more interested in a seaside escape, you may want to add Montenegro or Santorini, in the Greek Isles, to your planner. Let’s not forget about the amazing natural wonders that can be found in the small country of Slovenia: a truly remarkable place to experience nature in all its glory.
#4 It’s Time for Africa (Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa)
Maybe wildlife and safaris are what you desire. If that’s the case, then Africa is waiting for you.
If you would love to quietly float deltas or sit in beautifully crafted lodges while staring out over miles and miles of unadulterated desert, then write Botswana in your Dream. Schedule. Explore Planner now. Or maybe jot down Namibia, if you would prefer a more secluded and relaxed stay while taking in all the incredible scenery.

And of course, no list would be complete without the premiere destination of the entire continent, South Africa. Here you can enjoy modest safari camps or opt for luxurious villas that offer a truly breathtaking experience.
#5 The Great Down Unda (Australia and New Zealand)
For those of us that really enjoy peace and quiet while away, a nice trip down under is perfect. However, if you want to be even more “off-the-grid” we suggest Norfolk Island.
It’s just a short jump off the eastern coast of Australia, and thanks to limited space and limited flights, this somewhat-secret paradise guarantees true rest and relaxation far, far away from any hustle-and-bustle.

Let’s not forget about the lovely island nation of New Zealand, a place that offers unbelievable seclusion as well as the modern amenities that we have all become accustomed to having.
Plus, there’s plenty of seaside-cliffs and open fields of wavy grass for sitting with those most important to you and reflecting on what a truly incredible planet we live on.

It is very likely that hot travel spots for 2021 will be more on the isolated side of things. And the destinations I have listed above are absolutely perfect for the post-COVID travel enthusiast because why won’t your travel bucket list be rich with items that help you escape the busy real world?
